Description
The United Steelworkers Building (formerly the IBM Building, 1964) stands in front of the Verizon Building (formerly Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania Western Headquarters Building, 1957). The two midcentury structures contrast greatly in design and materials and serve as a microcosm of the Pittsburgh Renaissance when the downtown was radically transformed from a crossroads of heavy industry to a modern business district.
